Stephanie Moorhouse – by Gymnastics Australia

“Stephanie Moorhouse is a perfect example of Australia’s sporting excellence – displaying passion, skill, dedication and success – all by the tender age of 16!

She began gymnastics at the age of 4 and has enjoyed great success on each of the 4 apparatus. Her talent as a young gymnast has lead her to win the All Around title at theAustralian Championships in 1999 and 2002. Stephanie has competed at a high level in both National and International events since 1999.

Stephanie was part of the successful Australian women’s team who won the bronze medal at the 2003 World Championships in the United States, Australia’s first ever team medal in womens gymnastics.

At the age of 15, Stephanie and her team mates won the team gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, and they also dominated the field in the All around and individual apparatus finals. When asked what is behind her unrelenting drive for success, Stephanie’s explination is as passionate as it is simple; “Because I love it and I enjoy the challenge!”

Her goals and ambitions were to represent australia at the Commonwealth Games, World Championships and Olympic Games…With her successes behind her and steely resolve before her, nothing stood in her way of achieving her dreams!”
